Student Records are responsible for maintaining your enrolment, student information, course information, providing proof of enrolment, attendance information, registration with awarding bodies, arranging exams and results.

Proof of Enrolment and other Letters

If your need a letters as proof of enrolment or for applying for Council Tax – you can find these standard letters on the student portal in your account but if you need anything else (for example, a letter about previous study) just ask by emailing sturec@dumgal.ac.uk

Council Tax Exemption

If you’re studying full-time, you may be able to get a council tax exemption or reduction.

The decision is made by your local Council, but the College can give you the form you need — this is usually called a Council Tax Disregard.

When Can I apply

You can apply once you are enrolled and marked as attending (in person or virtually).

After your attendance is recorded, the form is generated overnight, so you should be able to download it the following day from your student portal account.

What does the form include?

The form confirms:

  • the address you gave when applying or enrolling
  • that you are enrolled on a full-time course
What do I need to do next?

You’ll need to:

  • download and print the form
  • add any details the College doesn’t have, including:
    • the liable person (the person who the council tax is billed to, this could be you or your parent or guardian for example)
    • the names and ages of everyone living at your address

You then send this to your local Council.
